Dispositors¶
About this chapter
This chapter explains how to read and use the Dispositors chart shown on the Analysis tab of the natal (single wheel) screen. It draws an arrow from each planet to the ruler of the sign the planet occupies, so you can follow each chain of rulership. It is available on the Pro plan and above.
Viewing the Dispositors chart¶
Steps¶
- On the Natal screen, click Show Chart.
- Open the Analysis tab in the data panel on the right (on a phone it appears below the chart).
- The chart appears under the Dispositors heading. Use Modern / Traditional above the chart to switch the rulership system.
- Click/tap the chart to enlarge it. From the enlarged view you can save it as an image.
How to read the chart¶
- Arrows: An arrow runs from each planet to the ruler of the sign it occupies. The planet at the arrowhead is that planet's dispositor. Following the arrows shows where each chain of rulership ends.
- Red circle: A planet in its own sign (final dispositor) has its glyph circled in red. No arrow leaves this planet.
- Red double-headed arrow: When two planets occupy each other's signs (mutual reception), they are joined by a red double-headed arrow.
- When three or more planets rule one another in a ring, the arrows of that ring are drawn in red.
- Below the chart, the final dispositors and mutual receptions are listed. If there are none, "none" is shown.
Notes¶
- Modern traces Scorpio, Aquarius, and Pisces to Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune; Traditional traces them to Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter. The other signs are the same in both. Modern is the initial setting; your choice is stored in your browser and used next time.
- The planets covered are the ten from Sun to Pluto: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The lunar nodes, ASC/MC, and asteroids are not connected by arrows.
- The planets drawn follow the Planet display setting (natal) on the settings screen. Planets you have hidden are not shown, and their arrows are not drawn either.
- The wheel colors and glyphs follow your selected color theme and glyph settings.
- The chart is available even when the birth time is unknown, because it depends only on the signs.
- While a draconic chart (Dragon Head / Dragon Tail) is displayed, it is not shown, just like the rest of the Analysis tab.
- The chart is shown on the natal screen only and is not included in the printout.
- The "Mutual Receptions" list under "Chart Details" on the Analysis tab is a separate item from this chart (see the Analysis Tab chapter).
